Lindström Abstract:
In applying Business Modelling, what issues have proved to be the most
relevant ones? Where have we succeeded, what pitfalls could be
noted and why did they probably occur? After a brief review of some practical
implications of basic infological concepts the often discussed issue of
simple vs. sophisticated models is commented upon from the practitioner's
viewpoint. A "multiple simple model" strategy is advocated.
Confluence from business style, participativeness and group dynamics is
brought into the picture. The effects of recent trends like Business Process
Management and Object Orientation are discussed. Finally, some comments
are given concerning the need for tools for model documentation and communication.
We need to accomplish the "dynamic documentation state" to take
full advantage of Business Modelling as a major vehicle for business development
.
